Silas of BoliviaSilas of Bolivia was a West coast blue ribbon winner that brought new genetics to the East coast. Combine exceptional lock structure, lack of medulation, density, and extraordinary fleece fineness (micron of 17 when imported in 1998) and you come up with Silas, a gentle white stud that passed his incredible fiber to his offspring. With perfect conformation, Silas was the complete package, and the fact that he threw color made him an exceptional herd sire. Best of all, these attributes were consistently impressed in his cria. Silas of Bolivia has 72 registered offspring. Silas of Bolivia died this winter and will be greatly missed. I had hoped to use him to improve the fiber of some of my herd. Fortunately I have his son,
Saggio, who took white color champion fleece at the ABWNY show and a sixth at Niagara Falls at the AFCNA Continental fleece show. Silas' genetics will continue at Hy-Haven Farm thanks to
Saggio.
